who's who?
so as not to be confused with the Australian Scott Matthew i featured in Les Musiques Que J'Aime 10,
here is the British Scott Matthews singing "Elusive":
beautiful song from a totally different, albeit equally brilliant, artist. for more info about Mr Matthews, check his website (whose web address is also very slimilar to the other Scott's): http://www.scottmatthewsmusic.co.uk/

LV Spring-Summer 2009 Men's Collection
well the Ouvea chain pattern was a no-show as the entire collection was completely devoid of patterns or monograms. even the well-known superimposed "LV" was nowhere in sight. but don't get me wrong, im loving the pared-back styles of the bags. simplicity = timelessness.
here are MY TOP PICKS FOR LV Men's S/S'09:

i recon the beige suede "Papillon" style is earmarked for the Spring Pre-Collection. its the only odd one out. all the rest seem to be calfskin. at first look they appear to be made in Bequia leather once again. but on some photos it looks like Tobago:

or Taiga even:

which one is it exactly? it can either be all three leathers on offer or a totally new line.
i especially like the grey colour of this duffle/overnighter whose shape reminds me of Richard Prince's Monogram Jokes Mancrazy but with the added convenience of a shoulder strap:

loving the shoes with contrasting straps/braces:

also loving the muted colours of the RTW. especially the pinks and greys:

and the sunnies are worth a look too:

here are a few more to drool/dream/obsess over until they come out in January/February:

yet another great season from the one and only Louis Vuitton.

you know you're obsessed when...
... you begin to seriously justify buying something you know you have absolutely no use for.
case in point: the Damier Graphite helmet

makes me want to get an old Vespa. but i don't even have a licence. the boots look pretty good too.

Gents... mark your calendars
the Louis Vuitton Men's Spring-Summer 2009 runway show is happening on the 26th of June. that's this coming Thursday at 14:30 Paris time.
i really don't know what to expect. hopefully something that would really blow me away. i'd be ecstatic if they finally did an artist collaboration for the boys. that would be a dream come true. my shortlist - though highly unlikely - would be John Currin, Julian Opie, Mel Ramos, Tim Biskup and Gilbert & George. ecclectic selection huh? i just recon these guys are more likely to collaborate and do something that would "suit" with LV than any of my other faves. Mauricio Cattelan? Tim Noble & Sue Webster? Mark Ryden? phffft... most unlikely. Jeff Koons maybe. but just think how much a Jeff Koons for LV bag would retail? Banksy perhaps? hmmm....
but i wouldn't be surprised if Bequia leather will make yet another comeback. hopefully in a great colour if ever. like maybe dark green or navy blue. but if they're going to resurrect a leather, it should be Tobago. i would also LOVE to see the Ouvea chain pattern (see Feature Bag #3) back once again. it is my favourite LV pattern to date. maybe in a nice earthy colour combo like brown/bronze/cream or even just use the other colourway they did back in S/S'06 show but didn't make the final selection (you can spot the one that did in the background):

all will be revealed in less than a week. save the date!

a sudden re-think...
i wasn't going to get the iPhone because although i've been a Mac devotee for many years now, the phone seems too big and heavy. i prefer compact and light, something i wouldn't even notice in my pocket. plus it took more than a year to arrive here in Australia. the hype an the novelty kinda died down a little for me. i've settled on the new black Nokia Arte to be my next phone. but now......

sounds good to me!
Louis Vuitton and travel, its practically synonymous. symbiotic even. and its not just about luggages anymore. they're in for the entire expereince of travel. a few years ago they launched the annual City Guides

now comes their first ever purely digital product: the Louis Vuitton Soundwalk Travel Guides. its a set of audio guides to the world's top cities. first up is China and they have recruited three of China's best actresses and beauties as your tour guides:
Shu Qi for Hong Kong:

Gong Li for Beijing:

and Joan Chen for Shanghai:

each MP3 file cost US$18 a pop. probably the cheapest item they have in their entire catalogue.

a Coppola LV fans
here's the latest celebrities to front the Louis Vuitton Core Values ad campaign:

Francis Ford & Sofia Coppola photographed by Annie Leibovitz shot in location in Argentina. loving the tender father-daughter dynamic of this photo. Mikhail, Catherine, Andre & Steffi and Keith have also posed for the same campaign in the past.
many thanks to Fashionphile for the photo.
