LV on fire

another Louis Vuitton mega flagship has just opened in Hong Kong. and to celebrate, they have made a few new items exclusive to the event. one of them is a one-off black Epi Sac Plat with a large LV logo cut out to show a flaming LCD screen designed by Italian multimedia artist Fabrizio Plessi
:

priced at HK$350,000 (AU$48,000), way too precious to be lugged around. this one is definitely just for displaying. i think its fantastic!

burn baby, burn!

Blason by Pharrell

i finally had the chance to view photos of Pharrell's latest collaboration with Louis Vuitton. and sadly my initial trepidation was with good reason. though the pieces were quite tame compared to the Jacob&Co creations we've seen him and his ilk wear, the designs are quite disappointing. i was hoping to be blown away, but it was the opposite. it was BLAH-son indeed:

i almost liked this Reverso shield ring. except for the twirling diamond studded bit. the inverse of which is engraved with this:

i wish they just kept it that way instead.

but this has got to be the cheesiest of the lot:

twee!

even the promotinal video was overdone and corny:

i just hope this was a one-off deal. Pharrell better stick to producing #1 hits. in my books, Blason is a right royal flop. next!

who would've thunk?

if LV managed to snag Mikhail Gorbachev, getting Keith Richards to pose - he's even got the "model pout" - for their latest ad campaign doesn't seem too far-fetched:

im really liking this serious side of LV. while the glossy fashion ads are aimed to a younger generation of followers, these rather restrained and sentimental ones are also done so as not to alienate their more mature and conservative core clientele (i.e.: the ones who actually spend serious $$$). starlets and supermodels are fine but unlikely spokespersons are much more exciting and interesting.

i wonder who's next?
